As avid campers, we are not good at staying still. We love to seize the weekends for camping adventures and spend our evenings after work jumping in the van and heading out on a road trip. So when the world stopped during a pandemic, we found ourselves itching to be away more than ever. As the UK started to peel itself out of lockdown, we knew it was time to take to the road once more.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Venice. I had once seen it described as half beauty half tourist trap and I wasn’t sure which side i would cling to. It’s true that this city is both. It’s magical and chaotic and I am so grateful to have seen it at least once in my life. We spent only a day in Venice and when I look back at my photos it seems like a faraway dream, which I guess is all part of the charm.

Šibenik, Croatia is one of the most picturesque coastal cities in Dalmatia. During our road trip through the country, we decided to visit on our way into Split from Zadar. We stayed only a few hours, wandering around the cobble stoned maze of shaded back streets and alleyways, but fell instantly in love with the city for its peaceful atmosphere and medieval charm.

Last September we set out on a two-week road trip around Croatia. We adored every place we visited, but our favourite region by far was Istria. We jumped on some tours for part of the trip and booked a car at the end to explore on our own. For us, having our own car and the freedom it provides suited our style of travel more, but the tours made sure we saw all the sights that Iceland is famous for!

Spoleto is an ancient city in the Italian province of Perugia. In all honesty, I had never heard of this slow and sleepy city so when we arrived I had no idea what to expect. My first impression was in the form of a very kind woman named Maria.

When I was busy working away to save up for our road trip adventure, I passed the time by daydreaming about what we would get up to when we were there. Slowly driving around the lakes of Switzerland and swimming in the clear water was a particularly favourite scene to visit when the hours dragged and dragged.

During an epic road trip through Europe last summer, my partner and I stopped in Switzerland for a few weeks. We spent our time exploring the country and sleeping in our home on wheels. The natural wonder of Switzerland was at our doorstep. Although we loved driving around the sun-kissed roads, one of the best ways to really immerse ourselves in the country was to jump into our hiking boots and explore on foot.
