When I was busy working away to save up for our road trip adventure, I passed the time by daydreaming about what we would get up to when we were there. Slowly driving around the lakes of Switzerland and swimming in the clear water was a particularly favourite scene to visit when the hours dragged and dragged. When I eventually got to Switzerland the dream literally came to life. In the few days we spent visiting Lake Lucerne we went swimming more times than I can count and we camped up in some pretty epic spots. When I try to describe the few days we roamed along the lake, I get lost for words. Instead, my memories flash to the bright sunshine that flooded through the van as we drove through all the lakeside towns. I see mental snapshots of the enchanting fog that danced across the water as we woke up before the rest of the world to get in a private swim. I can still vividly hear the humming of the boat engines that we watched pass by as we cooked up breakfast surrounded by views of the Swiss Alps. Though I am so grateful to have these sun-kissed memories firmly imprinted in my own mind, I have these photos to show others why they need to visit the beauty of the lake!
