I wasn’t sure what to expect from Venice. I had once seen it described as half beauty half tourist trap and I wasn’t sure which side i would cling to. It’s true that this city is both. It’s magical and chaotic and I am so grateful to have seen it at least once in my life. We spent only a day in Venice and when I look back at my photos it seems like a faraway dream, which I guess is all part of the charm. I don’t think I will ever visit anywhere as alluring and as packed full of history as Venice. Stepping out of the train station I felt like i was transported into another world, a movie-set of a place I had always dreamed of visiting. Italian’s in stripes and sunglasses gesture to each other, bobbing up and down in the glittering Adriatic canal as we watch the city come alive in the morning sunlight. Before us stood Venice, so old and timeless, yet so new to us.
