A ROAD TRIP TO REMEMBER
In early September, we found ourselves with a week off work and had (loosely) planned a camper trip. We knew we were off on a road trip, destination yet to be confirmed. We love our camper, our t4, but his spray paint job lasted longer than we anticipated and when the week off arrived, we were two campers minus a van. Now, when something like this arises, I respond by getting sad and annoyed. Key on the other hand, ignores such problems and has a knack of making an original plan come together, one way or another! So when I received instructions to pack my bags because he had “sorted everything”, I was thrilled. The real surprise came later on in the afternoon, when we were stood outside Love to Camper headquarters with the keys to a vintage volkswagen bus in our hands!
LADY LILY
Love to Camper, based in Kidderminster, is the pride and joy of two fellow adventurers, Chris and Julia. After adventuring around the UK in their first vintage camper, Stanley, they adopted three more vintage beauties and now rent them out to those who are after the retro road trip of a lifetime. With a dream to own a vintage camper ourselves one day, Key could not resist when he found photos of their beautiful vehicles. Chris and Julia were spectacular at arranging a camper so last minute for us and we fell in love with Lady Lily as soon as we laid eyes on her. She had absolutely everything we could possibly need for a few days away and we had the best time exploring Wales. She is equipped with crockery and cutlery, fairy lights, table and chairs for outside chilling, power points for charging, a comfortable rock and roll bed, a fridge, twin gas hob and a barbecue. She even has a toilet! A sheer luxury we are not used to in our own camper! Chris and Julia had thought of everything to make our stay in Lily an absolute dream and were even greeted with an epic welcome basket (prosecco at the ready!) Perhaps best of all, Lily drives so smoothly, we had no trouble getting to North Wales and back.
SUNSHINE ON OUR SIDE
We drove around Wales, taking in all the views and spending the cosiest nights in Lily. We started in the Brecon Beacons, waking up overlooking a dreamy lake and made our way west, driving along the coast, stopping off sunny beaches before travelling up into Snowdonia for some mountain backdrops. As is often the case in September, the weather was glorious and we had sunshine to accompany us for our entire trip. We can officially tick retro road trip off the bucket list! We have the photos to prove it…
